Monk fruit (Luo Han Guo) has been cultivated in southern China for culinary and medicinal purposes since the 13th century. The fruit’s distinct flavor is derived from an antioxidant compound known as mogroside, which provides an intense sweetness that is 100 to 250 times sweeter than sugar.
